What is my key to successful packing? Making sure that every item that earns a place in the suitcase is guaranteed to work hard for you while you are away. By picking versatile and co-ordinating pieces, you don’t have to take as much but can end up having many more options. No ‘what to wear’ dilemmas on holiday = more time to relax, which is exactly what I plan to do!
Armed with my my own advice, here are a few of the key pieces that will certainly be earning a place in the suitcase this Summer:
Bikinis and Beach Cover-ups:
I love the hot tribal colours of the Seafolly Sahara Nights and this bandeau is supportive and flattering (no strap marks, always a bonus). Being a sucker for aquas, I have also picked this Twist Bandeau bikini from Banana Moon. Both these lightweight Seafolly Kaftans are easy throw overs for that long lazy lunch in the shade and co-ordinate with both bikinis.
A selection of Sun Hats & the Kikoy towel:
I live in Sun Hats on holiday so I always take a couple. I particularly like the Fedora style and this Seafolly Collapsible Sun Hat rolls up in your suitcase so takes up no room and easily re-shapes when you un-pack.
My essential Kikoy Beach towel always comes with me. It’s quick drying, lightweight and the absorbent towelling lining is so soft which makes it great to sunbathe on. There is even a clever hideaway pocket on the towelling side to keep belongings out of sight and it also doubles up as it as a sarong – tick, tick, tick.
Beachwear into evening-wear
I always pack clothes that will take me from the beach to the bar for that sundowner. This beautiful Seafolly Embroidered Linen Cover-up really works hard as it’s so versatile and can be dressed up to take you out in the evenings. Again, this gorgeous Skemo dress is perfect for on or off the beach, it’s pretty waist tie gives it something special while still feeling relaxed and easy to wear. One of favourite pieces in the 2018 collection has been these Skemo Trousers, I have lived in them so far this summer and they are definitely coming with me.
In my dreams I am imagining spending hours reading a book on a sunlounger under a palm tree. However, travelling with a 5 year means that realistically I am going to spend the majority of my days standing in a swimming pool with a child who has not yet quite mastered how to stay above the water by himself. This rash vest is therefore a must to avoid the inevitable burn (perfect for snorkeling too).
Don’t forget the feet!
I would never take-off on holiday without a trusty pair of flip flops and these Havaianas Lunas work with everything. I find an added bonus is that they are easy to drive in. Of course it’s time to get your beach toes at the ready! I love this Endless Summer coral shade which is so bright and vibrant it even seems to glow in the dark. Don’t forget the hard wearing Jelly Fish top coat which means that your toes will stay looking great all week long. Last but not least is my pretty Hipanema bracelet which will dress up any outfit. Easy!
